BioFlōr™ Is Here. A New Chapter of Clean.
Three years ago I started asking a question that nobody in the cleaning industry seemed to be asking: what if instead of killing everything on your floor, we built something alive into it?
Every floor cleaner on the market works the same way. Surfactants lift the dirt. You mop it up. The floor looks clean. And then the moment you put the mop away — it stops working. The organic buildup, the compounds deep in your grout that you cannot see — they were never touched. They start growing back immediately.
BioFlōr™ works completely differently. And I want to take a few minutes to explain exactly why — because the science behind it is genuinely exciting, and once you understand it you will never think about floor cleaning the same way again.
“What if instead of killing everything on your floor, we built something alive into it?”
Katie Lane · Founder, Alpinia LabsMeet the Bacillus. Your floor's new best friend.
The active biology in BioFlōr™ is a strain of Bacillus microbes — specifically selected for their extraordinary ability to digest organic matter. These are not harmful microbes. They are the same family of beneficial living organisms found naturally in healthy soil, used in agriculture, food production and wastewater treatment for decades.
What makes Bacillus microbes uniquely suited for floor cleaning is something remarkable about how they work. They do not use a fixed set of enzymes. Instead, when Bacillus microbes encounter a surface and begin consuming organic matter, they analyze what is there and generate the specific enzymes needed to break it down.
When Bacillus microbes are introduced to a dirty surface they begin consuming the organic compounds present — proteins, fats, oils, grease, urine compounds, food residue. As they consume, they produce specific enzymes tailored to exactly what they find. Proteases for proteins. Lipases for fats and oils. Amylases for starches. The biology adapts to your floor, your home, your specific environment. No two floors are identical — and BioFlōr™ responds accordingly.
This is fundamentally different from enzyme-based cleaners that add a fixed set of enzymes to a formula. Those enzymes are static — they work on what they were designed for and nothing else. Bacillus microbes are dynamic. They read the environment and respond to it. It is almost as if the cleaner is tailored specifically to your home, your floors, your space.
How it works — three stagesWhy this makes every clean better than the last
Here is something no conventional floor cleaner can say: BioFlōr™ gets more effective the more you use it.
With each mop pass, Bacillus microbes colonize the porous surfaces of your floor — grout, micro-texture, the substrate below the visible surface. Over time they build a protective colony of beneficial living organisms that competitively excludes harmful microbes from establishing. This is called competitive exclusion.
In plain language: the more you use BioFlōr™, the harder it becomes for mold and organic buildup to get a foothold on your floors. You are not just cleaning — you are conditioning your floors at the biological level.
And then there are the drains.
Here is something we thought about a great deal when building this formula — something that matters deeply to us as a business based in Cape Coral, Florida.
When you mop your floors, the dirty water goes down your drain. And it does not stop there. It moves through your pipes. Through your household plumbing. Into the municipal water system. And in Cape Coral — through 400 miles of canals directly into the Caloosahatchee River and the Gulf of Mexico.
BioFlōr™ keeps working in that journey too. As the Bacillus microbes move through your drain and pipes, they continue consuming organic matter — the grease, the buildup, the compounds that accumulate in household plumbing over years. Your drains get cleaner every time you mop. Not as a side effect. As a feature.
What happens when there is nothing left to consume
This is one of the most important things to understand about Bacillus biology — and one of the things that makes BioFlōr™ genuinely different from every chemical cleaner on the market.
When Bacillus microbes have consumed all available organic matter and there is nothing left to eat — they do not leave a toxic residue. They do not leave a chemical film. They transform.
= Water + CO₂
When Bacillus microbes finish consuming organic compounds the byproducts are water and carbon dioxide. Nothing toxic. Nothing that harms your family, your pets, your pipes, your canals or your Gulf. The biology completes its work and returns to nature exactly as it found it.
Compare that to what conventional floor cleaners leave behind. Surfactant residue that dulls your floors over time. Preservatives like MIT and CMIT — restricted in several countries — that move through your drain and into waterways. Synthetic dyes and chemical compounds that have no business being on the floors your children crawl on or your pets sleep on.
BioFlōr™ vs conventional floor cleanersThe same promise. Every formula.
If you have been using our laundry detergent or dish detergent you already know what we stand for. The same clean-label commitment that goes into those formulas is in every drop of BioFlōr™.
Three years. Finally in your hands.
BioFlōr™ is the product I set out to make when I started Alpinia Labs. A floor cleaner that respects your home, your family and the environment your home is part of. One that gets smarter the more you use it. One that keeps working when you are not watching. One that — when it eventually finds its way into your drain and out into the world — leaves nothing harmful behind.
We are a small, women-owned business based right here in Cape Coral. We manufacture what we sell. We pour everything we have into these formulas. And BioFlōr™ is the one we are most proud of.
We hope it becomes a staple in your home the way our laundry and dish formulas have — and we cannot wait to hear what you think.
