WHY THE BAR IS BLUE
The color is not added. It comes entirely from the USP-grade methylene blue in the formula. Methylene blue is naturally a vivid blue compound — which means every bar is a visual confirmation that the active ingredient is present. No dye. No colorant. The blue is the ingredient.

Tallow's fatty acid composition — predominantly oleic, palmitic, and stearic acid — closely mirrors the sebum naturally produced by human skin. One of the oldest soap-making fats in history, chosen for what it is rather than what it costs.
Cold-process method — natural glycerin retained
Cold-process soap making preserves the natural glycerin produced during saponification. Commercial manufacturers typically extract and sell this glycerin separately, leaving behind a harsher bar. Cold-process bars keep it.

THE COLD-PROCESS METHOD
Why method matters
as much as ingredients.
Cold-process soap making is a traditional method that allows every ingredient — including the naturally produced glycerin — to remain in the finished bar. Commercial soap manufacturers typically extract and sell the glycerin separately, leaving behind a bar that cleans more harshly. Cold-process bars keep what the formula creates.
ABOUT THE NATURAL GLYCERIN
Glycerin is a natural byproduct of saponification — the chemical reaction that turns oils into soap. It is a humectant that draws moisture to the skin. In cold-process soap making, this glycerin stays in the bar. In commercial soap production, it is often extracted because glycerin is more valuable sold separately than left in a bar of soap.

Oils and tallow are combined
Saponified olive oil, coconut oil, and grass-fed beef tallow are combined to form the soap base — each contributing different qualities to the final bar.

Chondrus Crispus sourced directly from St. Lucia is added during the formulation process, distributing its mineral content and naturally high mucilage throughout the bar.

USP-grade methylene blue is added
The USP-grade methylene blue is incorporated — the moment the bar turns blue. The color is instant and even, confirming the active ingredient is distributed throughout the formula.

Cure period
Cold-process bars require a cure period after pouring — during which the saponification completes and the bar hardens to its final form. This cannot be rushed.

ABOUT THE BLUE
The blue is not a dye.
It is the ingredient.
Every bar in the Blü range is naturally blue. Not colored. Not dyed. The blue comes entirely from the USP-grade methylene blue in the formula — which is itself a vivid blue compound. No colorant is added because none is needed. The intensity of the blue confirms the presence of the active ingredient.
Will it stain my skin blue?
Methylene blue may leave a faint temporary tint on skin on first use — particularly if lather is left on skin for a period. This fades quickly with rinsing. Use as directed: lather, apply, rinse thoroughly. Do not leave lather sitting on skin.
Will it stain my flannel or washcloth?
Methylene blue can temporarily tint white flannels and washcloths. This washes out in laundry. To minimize: rinse your washcloth immediately after use rather than leaving it wet with lather.
Why does the color vary between bars?
Cold-process soap making produces slight natural variation between batches. The intensity of the blue may vary slightly from bar to bar — this is a normal characteristic of handcrafted cold-process soap and does not indicate a difference in formulation.
Is the blue safe?
The methylene blue in this bar is USP-grade — the same pharmaceutical purity specification used in the Alpinia blu capsule range. Discontinue use if irritation occurs. Avoid contact with eyes.

A few things to know first.

Wet the bar and your hands or washcloth
The bar lathers best when both the bar and your hands are thoroughly wet. Build lather in hands before applying to skin rather than rubbing the bar directly on your face.

Apply lather to face or body
Apply the lather gently. Do not leave lather sitting on skin for extended periods — rinse promptly to minimize any temporary blue tint from the methylene blue.

Rinse thoroughly
Rinse completely. Any temporary blue tint will fade quickly with thorough rinsing. Avoid eye area.

Store dry between uses
Store on a dry soap dish that allows water to drain. Do not leave the bar sitting in water — it will dissolve faster. Keeping the bar dry between uses significantly extends its lifespan.

BLUE TINT — WHAT TO EXPECT
