Most soap bars are formulated around cost. This one is formulated around the ingredient list. USP-grade methylene blue. Golden wildcrafted sea moss from St. Lucia. Grass-fed beef tallow. Three ingredients rarely found together in a single cold-process bar — each included because of what it is, not what it's marketed to do.
The color is not added. It comes entirely from the USP-grade methylene blue in the formula. Methylene blue is naturally a vivid blue compound — which means every bar is a visual confirmation that the active ingredient is present. No dye. No colorant. The blue is the ingredient.
USP-grade specification — the same purity standard as the Alpinia blu capsule range applied to a topical cold-process formula. The natural blue compound that gives this bar its color. No dye needed. The blue is the ingredient.
Our golden wildcrafted sea moss comes directly from our family in St. Lucia — hand-harvested Chondrus Crispus from the Caribbean. Naturally high in iodine, calcium, magnesium, and potassium. High mucilage content gives the lather its smooth, gel-like quality. Traceable to its source.
Rendered grass-fed beef fat — one of the oldest soap-making fats in history. Fatty acid profile closely mirrors human sebum. Produces a hard, long-lasting bar with a dense, creamy lather that olive oil alone cannot achieve.
Cold-process soap making is a traditional method that allows every ingredient — including the naturally produced glycerin — to remain in the finished bar. Commercial soap manufacturers typically extract and sell the glycerin separately, leaving behind a bar that cleans more harshly. Cold-process bars keep what the formula creates.
Glycerin is a natural byproduct of saponification — the chemical reaction that turns oils into soap. It is a humectant that draws moisture to the skin. In cold-process soap making, this glycerin stays in the bar. In commercial soap production, it is often extracted because glycerin is more valuable sold separately than left in a bar of soap.
Every bar in the Blü range is naturally blue. Not colored. Not dyed. The blue comes entirely from the USP-grade methylene blue in the formula — which is itself a vivid blue compound. No colorant is added because none is needed. The intensity of the blue confirms the presence of the active ingredient.
INCI names shown in italics. Every ingredient listed — nothing hidden.
Our golden wildcrafted sea moss comes directly from our family in St. Lucia. Hand-harvested Chondrus Crispus from the Caribbean — not sourced from a commercial bulk supplier, not irradiated, not dried in industrial conditions. We know where our sea moss comes from because we know the people who harvest it.
Skin: May leave a faint temporary blue tint — fades quickly with rinsing. More noticeable on first use.
White flannels: Methylene blue can tint white washcloths temporarily. Rinse immediately after use. Washes out in laundry.
Grout and surfaces: Avoid prolonged contact with white grout or porous surfaces. Rinse the sink after use.
FAQs
Methylene blue may leave a faint temporary tint on skin — particularly on first use or if lather is left on for a period. This fades quickly with thorough rinsing. Use as directed: build lather in wet hands, apply, rinse completely. The tint is temporary and not a stain.
USP-grade is the purity specification set by the United States Pharmacopeia — the standard used in pharmaceutical applications. Most methylene blue skincare products use cosmetic or laboratory-grade active ingredients which allow for a wider range of impurities. The Blü bar uses the same pharmaceutical purity specification as the Alpinia blu capsule range — because the standard we apply to what goes in your body also applies to what goes on it.
No synthetic fragrance, no parabens, no SLS. Cold-process method retains natural glycerin. The tallow base has a fatty acid profile compatible with human skin. However this bar contains USP-grade methylene blue which is an active compound — patch test on a small area of skin before full facial use. Discontinue use if irritation occurs.
Grass-fed beef tallow — rendered from grass-fed cattle. Tallow is one of the oldest soap-making fats and has a fatty acid profile that closely mirrors human sebum. If you do not use animal products this bar is not suitable for you — the tallow is an essential functional ingredient in the formula, not an incidental one.
Cold-process soap making produces slight natural variation between batches. The intensity of the blue may vary from bar to bar — this is a normal characteristic of handcrafted cold-process soap and does not indicate a difference in formulation or methylene blue concentration.
Handcrafted in Cape Coral, Florida. Every bar is made in the USA by a team that holds every formula to the same standard — from laundry detergent to supplement capsules to this soap bar.
