THE BODY GUARD FORMULA
Four ingredients. One bar designed for your hardest working day.

Most body soaps clean with surfactants and mask odour with synthetic fragrance. This bar works differently — activated charcoal adsorbs surface impurities that soap alone can't remove, peppermint and lemongrass essential oils provide a genuinely fresh scent from the ingredient rather than from a fragrance compound, and USP-grade methylene blue brings the same pharmaceutical purity standard as the Alpinia blu capsule range to your daily body wash.

WHY THE BAR MAY APPEAR DARK

The activated charcoal gives this bar its deep dark colour. The USP-grade methylene blue adds a subtle blue depth to the dark base — not from added dye or colorant. The dark color is the charcoal. The blue is the methylene blue. Both are the ingredients.

Activated charcoal — adsorptive surface cleanse
Activated charcoal has a porous structure that adsorbs surface impurities as it lathers against skin. It rinses away cleanly — taking what it has bound with it. A different mechanism from soap surfactants alone.
USP-grade methylene blue — same as the capsule range
The methylene blue in this bar meets the same United States Pharmacopeia purity specification as the Alpinia blu capsules. Not cosmetic grade. Pharmaceutical specification applied to a cold-process body soap.
Peppermint essential oil — cooling and genuinely fresh
Cold-pressed Mentha Piperita oil. The cooling sensation is the menthol in the ingredient — not a synthetic cooling agent. The scent is the essential oil. No synthetic fragrance compounds added.
Lemongrass essential oil — clean citrus scent
Cold-pressed Cymbopogon Citratus oil. Provides a clean, bright citrus note that pairs with the peppermint for a genuinely fresh scent profile — no synthetic fragrance needed.
THE FOUR HERO INGREDIENTS
What's in it. Why it works.
🖤
ADSORPTIVE · ACTIVE
Activated Charcoal

Highly porous activated charcoal adsorbs surface impurities as it lathers against skin. Unlike soap surfactants which dissolve surface oils, charcoal physically binds to surface-level particles and rinses away cleanly. The dark color of the bar is the charcoal — not a dye.

💙
USP-GRADE · ACTIVE
Methylene Blue

USP-grade specification — the same purity standard as the Alpinia blu capsule range. Pharmaceutical purity applied to a topical cold-process formula. The subtle blue depth in this bar is the methylene blue. No dye added. The colour is the ingredient.

🌿
COLD-PRESSED EO
Peppermint Essential Oil

Cold-pressed Mentha Piperita oil. The cooling sensation comes from the menthol naturally present in peppermint — not from a synthetic cooling agent. Provides a clean, invigorating scent from the ingredient itself. No synthetic fragrance compounds added.

🍋
COLD-PRESSED EO
Lemongrass Essential Oil

Cold-pressed Cymbopogon Citratus oil. A clean, bright citrus note that pairs with the peppermint for a genuinely fresh scent profile. The fragrance is the ingredient — not a fragrance compound added separately to mimic a citrus scent.

HOW CHARCOAL WORKS
Adsorption — not just absorption.

Most people are familiar with absorption — a sponge soaking up water. Adsorption is different. Activated charcoal works by attracting and binding surface-level impurities to its highly porous structure — rather than dissolving them with surfactants. When the charcoal rinses away, it takes what it has bound with it.

WHY ACTIVATED CHARCOAL IS DARK

The black color of activated charcoal is the carbon structure of the ingredient itself — not a dye or colourant. The dark colour of this bar is entirely from the activated charcoal. The subtle blue depth is from the USP-grade methylene blue. Both are the ingredients, not additions to the formula for visual effect.

Highly porous structure
Activated charcoal has an enormous surface area relative to its volume — created through the activation process. This porous structure is what gives it its adsorptive capacity during cleansing.
Binds and rinses away
As the charcoal lathers against skin it adsorbs surface-level impurities. When rinsed, the charcoal and what it has bound washes away cleanly. No residue left on skin.
USP-grade methylene blue alongside
The charcoal and the methylene blue work in the same cold-process formula — the charcoal providing surface adsorption while the methylene blue brings pharmaceutical-grade purity to the active ingredient in the bar.
Essential oils complete the formula
Peppermint and lemongrass essential oils provide the scent profile and the genuine cooling sensation — from the ingredients themselves, not from synthetic fragrance compounds added to the formula.
THE SCENT IS THE INGREDIENT
Peppermint and lemongrass. Not fragrance — the oils.

Most body soaps labelled "peppermint" or "lemongrass" contain synthetic fragrance compounds designed to smell like those ingredients. This bar contains the actual cold-pressed essential oils — Mentha Piperita and Cymbopogon Citratus — so the scent and the cooling sensation come from the ingredient itself, not from a synthetic approximation.

WHY COLD-PRESSED ESSENTIAL OILS SMELL DIFFERENT

Synthetic fragrance compounds are engineered to smell like their natural counterpart — but they are a simplified version. Cold-pressed essential oils contain the full spectrum of aromatic compounds from the plant — which is why real peppermint oil smells genuinely fresh in a way that synthetic peppermint fragrance does not.

Peppermint essential oil — Mentha Piperita
Cold-pressed peppermint oil. The cooling sensation is from the menthol naturally occurring in the oil — not added separately. The scent is the ingredient.
Lemongrass essential oil — Cymbopogon Citratus
Cold-pressed lemongrass oil. A clean citrus note that pairs with peppermint for a fresh, non-synthetic scent profile. No synthetic citrus fragrance added.
No synthetic fragrance compounds
This bar contains no phthalate-based fragrance compounds, no parabens, and no synthetic fragrance blend. The scent is entirely from the cold-pressed essential oils in the formula.
The cooling sensation is real
The peppermint cooling effect comes from the menthol in the Mentha Piperita oil — not from a synthetic cooling agent like menthyl lactate or WS-3. Real peppermint oil. Real cooling.
Full Ingredients — every one explained
COLD-PROCESS · HANDCRAFTED

INCI names shown in italics. Every ingredient listed — nothing hidden.

Saponified Olive Oil
Olea Europaea Fruit Oil
The primary oil base. High oleic acid content — gentle and skin-compatible. Saponified with lye through the cold-process method. The lye is completely consumed in the reaction and none remains in the finished bar.
Saponified Coconut Oil
Cocos Nucifera Oil
Adds rich lather and cleansing action. Coconut oil produces significant foam in soap — included specifically for its lathering properties, balanced by the olive oil base.
Activated Charcoal 🖤 ACTIVE
Charcoal Powder
Highly porous activated charcoal. Adsorbs surface-level impurities as it lathers against skin and rinses away cleanly. The source of the bar's dark colour — not a dye or colourant. Distributed evenly throughout the bar via the cold-process method.
USP-Grade Methylene Blue 💙 ACTIVE
Methylene Blue (USP-Grade)
Pharmaceutical purity specification — the same standard as the Alpinia blu capsule range applied to a topical formula. The subtle blue depth in the bar is the methylene blue. No dye added. The blue is the ingredient.
Peppermint Essential Oil 🌿 EO
Mentha Piperita Oil
Cold-pressed peppermint essential oil. The cooling sensation is from the naturally occurring menthol in the oil — not a synthetic cooling agent. The fresh scent is the ingredient, not a synthetic fragrance compound.
Lemongrass Essential Oil 🍋 EO
Cymbopogon Citratus Oil
Cold-pressed lemongrass essential oil. Provides a clean, bright citrus note that pairs with peppermint for the bar's scent profile. No synthetic citrus fragrance compound. The scent is the ingredient.
Sodium Lactate
Sodium Lactate
A naturally derived salt of lactic acid. Added to the cold-process formula to improve bar hardness and aid unmoulding — helps produce a firmer, longer-lasting bar without altering the formula's skin feel.
THIS FORMULA CONTAINS NO

SLS or SLES · Synthetic fragrance · Parabens · Phthalates · Artificial colors (dark colour is charcoal, blue is from methylene blue only) · Synthetic preservatives · Synthetic cooling agents

HOW TO USE
Daily body cleanse. A few things to know.
01
Wet the bar and your body
The bar lathers best when both the bar and your skin are thoroughly wet. Work up a lather in your hands or on a washcloth before applying to body.
02
Apply and work across skin
Apply lather across body. The charcoal adsorbs surface impurities as it lathers. The peppermint will provide a cooling sensation — most noticeable on skin exposed to air or water after washing.
03
Rinse thoroughly
Rinse completely. The charcoal and any temporary blue tint from the methylene blue will rinse away cleanly. Avoid eye area.
04
Store dry between uses
Store on a dry soap dish that allows water to drain. Keeping the bar dry between uses significantly extends its lifespan.

COLOR — WHAT TO EXPECT

Dark lather: The activated charcoal creates a dark lather — this is normal and expected. It rinses completely clean.

Blue tint on skin: Methylene blue may leave a faint temporary tint that fades quickly with thorough rinsing.

Washcloths: Charcoal and methylene blue can temporarily mark light washcloths — rinse immediately and launder normally.

FAQs

Activated charcoal is a highly porous form of carbon produced through high-temperature processing. Its porous structure gives it a very large surface area that adsorbs surface-level particles as it lathers against skin. When the charcoal rinses away, it takes what it has bound with it. It works differently from soap surfactants — adsorption rather than dissolution.

No it will now

Real cold-pressed Mentha Piperita essential oil. No synthetic fragrance compounds are in the formula. The cooling sensation is from the naturally occurring menthol in the peppermint oil — not from a synthetic cooling agent. If you are sensitive to synthetic fragrance this bar is suitable for you.

This bar is formulated primarily for body use. The peppermint essential oil can be sensitising around the eye area and the charcoal is more aggressive than most facial cleansers. For a face and body bar, the Blü Sea Moss Tallow Soap Bar is a gentler option formulated specifically for face and body use.
